 About the Book

AUTHORS NOTECrown of Glory launches a series of books about the founding of empires in the early days of Texas. The years of the Republic of Texas were difficult for everyone, from the usually indomitable Sam Houston to the poor immigrants who came West expecting easy times and quick fortunes. The characters of this first book, all fictitious, are representative of the dreamers, the outcasts, the loners, and the fighters who peopled the Republic.Like the characters, the town of Glory never existed except in the imagination of the author. The passing events, however, from the political and economic troubles to the tragic struggle with the Comanches, are as real as the history books allow me to make them.Future stories will span the century, from statehood through Reconstruction, and edging toward the new century. Look for Cord Hardins story Lone Star later. Maddie Hardin’s story will follow in Longhorn.Evelyn Rogers
